So yesterday was the PEV’s 5-man PTS Tournament at PEV’s Paintball in Aldie, VA. The weather was great, despite the poor forecast and the fact that it had been raining all week prior to the event. The event had two divisions, Novice and Open, of which RC played the open class. There were 10 teams in the open class and it was split into two divisions with each team playing 4 Race to 2 matches. Additionally the open class division was 12.5bps and snake side coaching was allowed.
Roster
The lineup for this event was Kirby, O-Face, Chrispy, C Mc D and Amish with Brandi as the snake side coach.
Preliminaries
In the first round, RC went 2-1-1 and in round 2 RC knocked out DC Mob A and the past PTS winners Relentless Attack. We also forced a draw with Static and a win with Legion Light who drew with us in the first round. With two teams knocked out, Round 3 went pretty quick with a win against Static and another against Legion Light. RC won all 4 points in the prelims and was advancing to the semi’s in 1st place.
Semi Finals
The semi’s went pretty quick, consider RC was playing DC Mob A again. Some Mob players left early and some tension among teammates allowed RC to quickly win 2 points and advance to the finals to play MD Mafia for 1st and 2nd. MD Mafia also won both there semi matches in 2 points and was 1st in their division, despite ranking 2nd overall going into the semi’s.
Finals
The first game of the finals was hard fought and almost went to time, however MD Mafia’s Mingo made a move into the 50 dorito and shoot Randy and Chrispy and that allowed the rest of the team to come downfield. The second game had a few more questionable calls, but in the end it went to MD Mafia. For the second time in a row RC came home with a 2nd place overall in an Open Class PEV’s PTS Tournament.
Overall RC had a great event and has continued to prove that PUMP has a place in tournament paintball. CFOA here we come!!!
