Welcome to the Home of the RC Army

The Rockin' Cocks started as a three man pump team at a local Charlottesville paintball tournament in 2006. Since then the Rockin' Cocks have expanded to a full roster and network of teams across the world. The RC Army represents that family of pump players made up of the Rockin' Cocks, The RC Revolution (Northern VA), RC Red Star (Australia) and RC Sweden.

We play all kinds of paintball but what we love is playing tournaments with pumps. We don't care what the other team is shooting as long as we've got our pumps...we are having a good time.

Check out or rosters, videos, pics and propaganda. If you like what you see...or even if you don't...leave a comment and let us know what you think.

Mason Thomas Championship Cup

Over the past year, RC has been getting a little more involved in the community. Sure, we like to play paintball but we also like to hang out together off of the field. I am pretty sure that Wimpy planted the bug for making our off-field time a little more "productive". So, we started looking around for ways to contribute to the community. We started out staffing a rest stop to help out the local Multiple Sclerosis Society with one of their large bike rides, then we spent most of a day doing some work for the local Habitat chapter and somewhere along the lines, K-rob found out about Mason's story.

Mason Thomas is a 9 year old Charlottesville boy with Neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a form of cancer that occurs in infants and young children. It is rarely found in children over 10. Mason was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma when he was five. After several rounds of treatment between UVA hospital (in Charlottesville) and the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (in New York City) Mason was cancer free for over three years. In April 2009 he relapsed and has been travelling to New York again for treatments. When RC heard about Mason's story we all agreed that we had to do something. We wanted to raise awareness for Neuroblastoma and help Mason's family with the expenses associated with his treatments and travels. This is how the Mason Thomas Championship Cup came to be.

We've got a lot of people working behind the scenes to make this a great event. KPS Paintball in Midlothian, VA will be hosting the event with two speedball fields and The Ishan Gala Foundation is helping us with a lot of the administrative and organizational aspects of running a fundraiser. Last but certainly not least we'll be tapping our own tournament experience and help from some KPS locals to bring you a high-quality tournament.

All of the important details are on the flyer. Once registration is open and as more details come in we will be posting updates here and on your favorite paintball forums.

Rockin Cocks take 9th Overall in USPL

Not too shabby for our first national level tournament series. RC came in 9th out of 32 teams and we only competed in one event. 2010 is looking to be a promising year which will start with a benefit tournament at KPS to help out a local 9 year old battling neuroblastoma. Stay tuned for more information.

Kaos 3 man Series and Pump Tournament

Skirmish SA in conjunction with SAPPA (South Australian Paintball Players Association) have been running a 3 man tournament series that fills in the time between the 5 man series games. The most recent 3 man tournament was played in conjunction with a 3 man pump tournament. Mun Chen aka Ed aka JCS_Liason_Neo has been working over the years to try to get interest up in the pump game. Running a pump tourney in conjunction with the 3 man series was an excellent way to conveniently test the waters. It being the first test, the tournament consisted of only 3 teams; RC Red Star, Ruin, and The Reffs (appropriately named as they were largely the guys reffing the 3 man semi tourney).

Using Millenium rules each team played each other in a 3 game series twice. In other words RC Red Star played 6 games against Ruin and 6 against Reffs over the course of the day. All teams played well and there was an unmistakeable commeraderie between all the pump teams. Ruin was largely a bushball team and were taking this pump tourney as an opportunity to check out tourney play. Jas from Ruin showed me his collection of very unique pumps ranging from pumped mags, to customized phantoms. The rest of Ruin were rocking sl68II's. Simon aka Funky from Fusion Red threw his hat in the ring to give the pump game a try. He and I were shooting SL68II rentals while our teammate JCS was shooting his stockfeed phantom. The Reffs were doing it right with some really nice open class snipers complete with CCM pump kits.

No matter what level of experience or gear, everyone proved to be a hero at one point or another. Ultimately The Reffs dominated the tournament. Ruin took one game from them, but RC Red Star got blown up game after game. In the end RC took the 2nd place position, but the main purpose of this day was to get some pumpers together to have some fun and encourage others to join in the pump game. Congrats to The Reffs for showing us all how to kick it old school.

Congratulations to Fusion Blue as well for pulling out their win in the 3 man open class tournament. See you guys in November at the 5 man (Fusion Red's coming at ya).

Finally, I have to share a quick story of how much of a tool I can be. Because it was a 5 man tournament we didn't play on the entire field. A line was put on the field to demarcate the new boundaries. Over the course of the day it was noticed that one bunker was inhabited by a beehive. As it warmed up and the games got more intense the bees became significantly more active. From the sidelines we joked about guys diving into that bunker and getting swarmed, sometimes you heard "Bee's are Hot... shoot bee's" and other tomfoolery (tomfoolery?). Anyway, during an intense game I ran through to trade out with the snake. I got the drop on him so I shot him and decided to run through to the back of the field. It was 2 on 1 and their 1 player was in the center 50. I figured if I ran through to get behind him he'd have no chance as he'd be between two RC's. I picked the bunker I wanted to stop at to start the gunbattle. As I rapidly approached said bunker at pace I realized it was the dreaded Bee Bunker. Without missing a beat I yelled 'BEEEEES!' and kept going to the next bunker in the line... subsequently running out of bounds at full speed. Luckily JSC was able to pull out the 1 v1 and I was saved a little bit of pride.

RC Red Star Jerseys

These are the first 3 jerseys for the Australian RC Red Star team. We changed from black to white tee's because of the extreme heat here in South Australia. Even in Virginia, during a long day of sun, we questioned the black tee's... but then we remembered how hard the look. Everything's in a bit of a USSR font. On the right sleeve is the Chinese character for 'rooster'. I miss the 'agg rooster' from the other jerseys, but I wasn't about to make that into a stencil again. Also don't miss the 'bomb' symbol on the bottom left. I think they came out pretty well considering I was using stencils and spraypaint. Unfortunately these are 2xl and aren't quite the size I'd like... but it's a start. Check the pics below.

SAPPA 5 man Round 4: A 3rd Party 1st Impression

(photo courtesy of Jeff Pasko from Carnage)

So I’m the new guy in town. I just moved from the United States about 6 months ago and had heard some discouraging things about the paintball culture in Australia. Paintball has been a significant part of my life over the past few years and I was determined to get involved in the Adelaide paintball scene despite ominous rumors about the legality, availability and cost of playing. After moving to the other side of the planet, paintball wasn’t my primary concern. But after a few months, and finding employment, I found myself poking around Bills Paintball Forums again. I found an unanswered PM from a local baller. The message was probably a year old or so, but I gave it a shot. After some messages back and forth I found myself dusting off my Flex in anticipation for Round 4 SAPPA 5 man. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was going to get a better idea Saturday as I’d agreed to help set up the field with Simon from Fusion.

My first realization upon arriving at the field, and looking at the South Australian landscape, was that I had spent the last 6 months of my life in cities. I gotta get out more! Then I came across the staging area, “Nice nets, nice set up, plenty of tables, cover from the sun… these guys have thought this through.” Then we walked up to the fields. I heard a comment about how the ground wasn’t perfectly even, and that there wasn’t much topsoil but they were working on it. Meantime, the last tourney I played in was on mulch. The one before that was, quite literally, on the side of a hill. Cement borders, decent posts, some of the outside netting was a little beat up, but the netting was strong where it counts. Quality paintball facility here, “Let’s get to work”.

There were already a good handful of guys on the field dragging bunkers around. As I stepped under the nets I was struck with a feeling of nostalgia as the smell of broken paint filled my nose. For a moment it felt like I was on my home field, with my old teammates that had become my family. The collection of bunkers was, admittedly, a bit ad hoc. Quality bunkers, but unmatched and spanning a few years of paintball history. However, as I started helping to place and set the bunkers I realized that the other guys out there that day weren’t paid by anyone. They were fellow ballers, who were just helping to set up the field for their tournament tomorrow. Additionally, the bunkers were all unmatched because many of them were shipped in on loan from the very teams who were participating the next day. Some of the bunkers were owned by the SAPPA who took the dues paid by the players for their purchase.

After a long day of hard work, foul language and a bit too much sun, we took some time to walk the completed fields. We planned our break out, and looked for key lanes and bunkers. Once we were satisfied with what we had dreamed up, we packed up our stuff and headed back to the city.

I arrived on the day of the event with all the gear I was allowed to bring on the plane from the States, which doesn’t include a marker, tank or hopper. So I wasn’t really sure how that was going to work out, but was confident that my team mates were prepared to help. (Incidentally I’m still looking for a cheap set up fyi) After meeting up with all the guys from the Fusion family I was more than prepared for the event. Complete strangers put a brand new team marker and tank in my hand, as well as some coveted pro owned hotness in loader form. I didn’t know these guys from Adam (yet) but they were trusting me with their gear. Thanks for the good faith.

As the teams start arriving there’s an unmistakable feeling in the air. I see teams walking the fields, pointing down those critical lanes. Players are forming themselves tight in the bunkers and looking at what they see. Reffs, wearing black and white uniforms, are having their early morning meeting. No doubt about it, these are ballers, and this tournament is legit. Seventeen teams, some from interstate, are ready for a long day of “smashin’ paint” (as I believe it is referred to around here).

As the day goes on, win lose or draw I see teams playing hard and cheering for each other. It becomes obvious that some of these teams have established relationships among each other. Whether the relationships were in the form of ‘brother team’ or ‘heated rival’ there was a common bond. Some teams were advancing to the top of the table, clear ‘teams to beat’. Other teams were fighting it out in the middle of the table with all eyes firmly fixed on the prize. One team in particular was forced, through no fault of their own, to play with only 4 players. And game after game they showed up and did their job as well as anyone could. Those guys won some great games too. Now… paintball is paintball… I think we all know what I mean by that. Sometimes players can’t help but question calls, or get fired up in the heat of the moment. But I felt that this day was virtually untainted by bad attitudes or unsportsmanlike conduct. The Reffs from Reffs Inc. were professionals. A tournament with seventeen teams goes on for a long, long time. And those refs have to be sharp for every second of it. I, personally, have never been as thoroughly checked at any other tournament as this one. But the refs did it with professionalism and sometimes a good sense of humor.

After the last of the paint was thrown, and the field was no longer live, I truly saw what SAPPA was all about. Masks off, but paint smothered jerseys still on, teams popped open their eskys (coolers for you guys from the States) handed out a few beers, and continued sharing their ‘play by play’ memories of their matches. We all walked back onto the fields and gathered for a full tourney group shot. One of the guys from Taktix (sorry if I spelled your team name wrong) organized some scaffold for anyone who wanted to get some great shots of the day, thanks for that. So we posed for a few pictures (post them for the love of God) and had a few more laughs as we walked back to the staging area. Each of the seventeen teams had been assigned specific bunkers which they were responsible for cleaning. So, many with beer in hand, we started squeegying, sponging, spraying, and wiping down all the bunkers. Now, this was a great moment to me for many reasons. It was great to chat to my new teammates while we were working. I didn’t know anything about them, really, other than how well they played that day. But as I looked across the fields and saw all the work being done on all the bunkers, the bunkers that had been donated by or through SAPPA paid for by the players, I saw the SAPPA: a league sponsored by and governed by the players. Looking at a sea of paintball goons working and laughing together, and all the obscene things that go on when a group of paintball goons get together, I felt like I was a little closer to home.

I spoke to many of the players that evening about how unique I found the SAPPA. I kept saying, “Man, you don’t see this everywhere. This sort of thing is hard to find where I’m from.” To which the consistent response was, “Well… this is the SAPPA.”

So congratulations to all you ballers who took home a trophy, plaque or some new gear. And thanks to all those pro refs from Refs Inc, and all the teams that traveled so far to make it to the tournament. Thanks for lending me some gear Fusion, and thanks for giving me a spot on the team to play for you guys. I wish I could write about more specifics of the tournament, but I’m worried I’ll get names wrong etc… after all I’m the new guy in town. Moreover, I wanted this write up to show you all my first impressions of the SAPPA. I feel lucky to be a part of it, and am looking forward to the next round.

Rockin Cocks take 2nd in USPL

The 7-man roster consisted of C-Rob, Spoon, O-face, Amish, Lefty, UA Carl and Frieda. We also had Smitty and Five-O running a solid pit throughout the day.

RC rolled on to the scene Saturday afternoon to watch a few games and take a last-minute look at the field layout. We came up for a couple of practice days but the looks and lanes were slightly different from the "Center Court" layout so it was time well spent.

We went into our first game feeling prepared...not cocky...but prepared. We were the second game on the field and were surprised at how quickly the first game went down. The FPPL Scrubs made quick work of the Rubber Duckies and we walked onto the field. Not prepared for the fast action of pump play we faced two of the strongest teams for our first two games...Indy Mutiny and FPPL Scrubs..and we lost them both. Ironically, RC needed to adapt and learn how to play pump teams.

We changed our game plan up a bit, moved some players around and then the legit started to flow all over the field. Our third game was a distinct win but we unfortunately did not get the flag hang or pull due to an old hit in the folds of a jersey...resulting in a 2 4 1 and a draw. From there we had to dig ourselves out of a pretty deep hole. With two losses and a draw it was going to be pretty tough to score enough points to claim one of the top two spots...but that's what we did. We won our next 5 games 98-4, 92-16, 96-8, 100-0 and 96-8, putting us in second place behind Mutiny.

The finals were best of three and we took it to three games. Mutiny took the first game with RC fighting back to make it even. In the third game Mutiny made a nice run to the 40 Aztec and managed to take out our snake side. We scored one elimination in the process but we were down 3 bodies to 4. O-Face made a bold move to try and bunker the Mutiny player in the U but bounced him in the torso and got eliminated. Lefty tried to make the bump and follow up O-face but that resulted in Mutiny's fourth Kill. With a 4 v 1 in Mutiny's favor I took a shot in the elbow that sealed the game and 1st place for Mutiny.

In the end 2nd place isn't bad...but we were really hoping to take the number one spot.

Thanks to the USPL, Pev's Paintball, FPPL (x2), Indy Mutiny and The Rubber Duckies for making this an awesome event.

Here's a shot of photogenic Frieda doing some work snake side. And our final results...

Well...we're off!

In just a couple of hours The Army will be headed up to Pev's for the USPL. Who knows what the weekend will entail? All we can do is go out there, keep our heads together and play paintball the way we play paintball. Everything else will sort itself out.
Before we go though...we must thank Mr. Sternwood for all that he's taught us and pay homage to the greatest cock in the world...Rocky Cockerson.

For all of the RC Brethren who couldn't make it to the USPL with us...This Royal Crown is for you!
We'll see you on the other side...

Play Date at Zwackerz

RC was scheduled to play some head to head ball with the Z-Crew but it didn't quite play out as expected. I think the AM rain deterred one or two members of the Z-Crew but we mixed in and played some games and ran a few drills. By the afternoon the rain gave way to sunshine and all in all it turned out to be an excellent day of paintball.

On a related note, the fields at Zwackerz have really started to fill out. The speedball field has a good number of quality bunkers (read they stay inflated) and while not laid out in the typical speedball fashion (mirrored with a proper snake) the lanes and bumps are still quite playable. Dennis has also done a good job of tying the brush field in with the speedball field for a consistent "Huge Field" that can be played quite effectively. After the USPL, I suspect we'll be checking out Zwackerz again.

Oh, I almost forgot!

We've started a new tradition since Wimpy went upside down. For each day of play, we pass the mascot (Rocky Cockerson) on to the MVP for the day. The MVP must then choose the next recipient next time we play. Going into Sunday, Owen held Rocky for destroying the D side with C-Robb at KPS. Today, Rocky gets passed on to UA Karl, for 1) the highest confirmed K count for the day (including and entire team elimination) and 2) finally getting some damn elbow pads.

Hastings Reppin' RC

I don't know how this one slipped through the cracks...I think these pics were taken before we got the blog up and running. A while back Wimpy and I took a drive up to Pevs for some rec play. I think that's the day we ran into a couple of fellow pumpers who became two key members in the RC Revolution. Anyway, Wimpy had the idea to make Greg an RC jersey and autograph it for him. Wimpy figured people were always askin Greg for time and autographs, so we'd give him some shwag. We had a great time and even hung around to get our likenesses captured for the upcoming GH game. I don't know if the Rockin Cocks, Spoon, Wimpy or any pump guns will be in the game but we had a great time meeting Greg.

Here are the pics.

Now that was a good day of paintball!

It was RC's X-ball debut. Even though it was only a practice, it was our first time playing the format. We did have a slight advantage in that we could carry all of the paint and air we would need for 5 games onto the field at once. We did have to wipe old hits between games and we did pod up a couple of times but we were ready to rock (and cock) when the buzzer went off.

It pretty much rained all day making for a rough time seeing the paint and keeping the equipment clean but we still played some solid paintball and came out 1-1 in our two matches. We didn't win any games the first match, but we all played really well and every point was won with only one or two bodies. We weren't able to bounce back from one game where we were up by several bodies but a quick shift in momentum put us on the wrong side of the scoreboard.

Match 2 was a different story. We dropped the first point but responded promptly with a point of our own. We traded points again making the match score 2-2. It was race to 3 so this was the one that counted. It was a nail-biter with each team trading G's. There were some really close calls but in the end C-rob and Owen pulled out the last point.

After 2 matches and 4 hours of rain, we were pretty much done. O-face snuggled up with Rocky while Amish spent some quality time with a case of Bronze. It was a tough day...the guys were getting some well deserved rest on the way home.

RC Army helps find a cure for MS

RC did it's part last weekend in the struggle against MS. Four team members came out to provide support, food and mechanical assistance to almost 400 riders. We had a few markers on display and got quite a few questions. Several people feared that we would use the markers to motivate stragglers or riders who took more than their share of PB&J. We assured them that wasn't the case and they could eat and hang out as much as they wanted. We also had a decent conversation with one rider about old Autocockers and Angels.

It didn't take long for the competitive spirit to come out. When it was time to restock the bananas and make another batch of PB&J's, Lefty and Freida went head-to-head in an all out battle. Turns our Frieda is a sandwich making expert but Lefty pwns all when it comes to cutting bananas. I think it was a draw when it came to quartering oranges.

National Pump Division on the East Coast

The USPL is coming to DC and thanks to a few phone calls and contacts through the USPL website there will be a 5-Man pump division in Aldie, VA. It's nice when the people talk and the powers listen.

On behalf of the RC Army, thanks USPL and we'll see you in August!

WSSA

...Or Wimpy’s Still Standing Around Tournament for those of you not in the know.

The folks out at ZwackerZ paintball were kind enough to hold another tournament in honor of our dear friend Wimpy as a last hurrah before he leaves us to join his wife Jane in the land down under.

The turn out was a little smaller than Wimpy’s Last Stand with a total of 6 teams. The G.I. Juniors made a return appearance and played like little champs, great job guys! WeMow brought a team all the way from Roanoke and played their first tournament using pumps, they seemed to enjoy it. ZwackerZ home team, the Zee Crew also made their return appearance. Our buddy Amish defected to the darkside and joined with JoBob and some other friends on Toothless Aggression and played SEMI (semi!) The Revolution made it down all the way from NoVA and of course the OG Rockin Cocks crew (currently using the title RC Illuminati) was there, with some new faces. Regulars Johanna, Kyle and Lucas were joined by EZ and Kendra in their first RC tournament appearance. Frieda and C-Robb joined Wimpy on the reffing crew.

Anna at ZwackerZ had some t-shirts printed up for the tournament which is a great momento of Will’s last tournament stateside. Will spent the entire day as the Ultimate Ref and did an excellent job. Kudos to all of the refs for standing out in the extreme heat all day. Did I mention the heat before? No? Well it was sweltering.

Details of individual team performances elude me so I will post the final standings-

1st place – Toothless Aggression (SEMI!)
2nd place – RC Revolution
3rd place - RC Illuminati
4th place - Zee Crew
5th place – WeMow
6th place - G.I. Juniors

The day ended with a big game of defending the Alamo. Amish and his team were the defenders of the Alamo (or barn) and the rest of the players attacked from 2 sides. Great fun was had by all.

The RC crew from Charlottesville ended the day having dinner at the Solo gas station somewhere between Scottsville and Dillwyn. The food was good but the company was excellent.

Special thanks to Anna and her family at ZwackerZ Paintball for the tournament and for thinking of Will in his last days in the U.S. We will all miss you Will!

Great Day at the Training Grounds

I am wiped out after countless games of paintball on the Training Grounds today. C-Robb, O-face, old man Wimpy, Kirby and UA Carl were among the regulars with K-Robb, and some local law enforcement rounding out the teams.

It was K-Robb's first time on the field after a long hiatus and her first day out with a pump. She played like a champ and we are all looking forward to being out on the field with her as she gets more gun time. This could be the beginning of an all female RC squad...but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

The weather could not have been better and the playing was excellent. It was nice to be on the field with an atmosphere a bit more relaxed than the recent tournaments. Here are a few pics...

Some RC boys throw together a hybrid team for a win!

On Sunday April 19 two players, Jeuse and Snax, from the RC Revolution fielded a team called the Mighty Ducks for the second Pev's Tournament Series of the season. Throwing this team together within the last week we decided to invite a friend by the name of Tony to play with us. We went into this tournament with lots of confidence, starting off the day by winning our first 6 games, maxing almost every game. The 7th game we lost a well played game, but it didn't get us to worried. The next game Zak aka Snax tied a game which pulled us into second with one game before finals. We took the field and maxed the team entering the prelims in first. In the finals we made up for an earlier loss going on to win the last game for 1st place. We thank Tony for helping us out with the win and invite him to play with us again!!!!!

-Snax

Well done boys... you may not have been wearing the RC jerseys but you did some great work with pump guns. Not to mention the fact that you were repping the RC Army with stickers on your hoppers... nice. Let's get Tony back on that paintball field.... ahem... with a pump next time....

Rockin' Cocks get a shout out in Welt Magazine Issue 7

Out of the blue one night our boy Tung from the University of Virginia Paintball Squad (VaPS) sent us a surprise link, a brief mention of an RC Video in the latest issue of Welt Magazine. The online magazine linked to our video 'RC Army at ZwackerZ', and added some mixed thoughts of their own. Though I was flattered by their interest in my video... as well as their complements regarding our 'unassailably good taste in music'... they were left with the false impression that we only played walk on games. After a few emails back and forth with the editor of the magazine I was told that we'd get a retraction of sorts in the form of pics/vids of us playing in some PTS tournaments. Unfortunately, no retraction made it into the following issues... and I'm hard pressed to find Welts back issues available online. I'm guessing their investment in sponsoring the NPPL video game didn't pan out as expected. Anyhoo... the ZwackerZ vid that was in the original issue is posted below. Enjoy our 'unassailably good taste in music'.

New Pump Hopper? Gex X Global

I found a post poking around PBNation and there seems to be a new pump hopper on the scene. It looks very similar to the terribly brittle BE hoppers but potentially a little more durable. I just got a couple of Winchester hoppers that I haven't tried out yet but maybe this one will be next on the list.

Pump Division at Huntington Beach

The RC family was actually looking forward to checking out the USPL Pump Division in DC but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Based on the content of the following article, maybe it's for the best.

Here's some video footage of the pump play at HB.

RC Army Shukin' and Jivin' Down in Lynchburg

On April 4th, under the aliases Shukin’ and Jivin’ the army traveled to Liberty University for a tournament. There was a 3 man and a 5 man division so the army divided to try and bring home two golds. Wimpy returned from his long vacation to play with Shukin’, his first tournament appearance in almost three years. Shukin’ was made up of C-Rob, O-Face, Lefty Blanks, Smitty, Frieda, and Wimpy. Jivin’ consisted of U.A. Karl, Amish and Spoon.

The turnout was O.K., the 3 man division had 7 teams and the 5 man division had 4. The 3-man was a round robin format with each team playing each other once, since the 5 man division only had 4 teams each team played every other team twice. The tournament was run smoothly and quickly allowing O-Face to play the entire tournament and still make it to work.

Jivin’ played first and lost, shortly after Shukin’ lost their first game as well. They both made adjustments to their game plans and rallied the troops. Jivin’ played strong, winning their second game. Shukin’ followed suit, winning their second game with Wimpy shooting 3 G’s (or K’s as they are now called). Jivin’s day was back and forth finishing prelims with 3 wins and 3 losses. Shukin’ had some very close games but managed to go into the semi-finals with 4 wins and 2 losses.

For the semi-finals the top four teams were taken from each division. The only problem with this was that the 5 man division had 4 teams in total so everyone in the 5-man division made it to the semi-finals. Shukin’ was pumped after the very necessary first 6 games. Both the teams played strong and won their games sending them to play for first and second. The finals were in a best out of three format and Both Shukin’ and Jivin’ had to play tough teams. It was a hard fought battle but both teams had to settle for second.

All in all it was a great day, the RC camp had one of it’s strongest showings yet and they came away with the heads held high knowing that feelings had been hurt and respect had been earned.

Many props and thanks to the Liberty University Paintball team and Big Pearl Paintball for running a quality event.

Rockin' Cocks and RC Revolution at PTS in Aldie

This past Sunday a Rockin’ Cocks 3 man team traveled up to Aldie Virginia and met up with the RC Revolution to compete in the March 22nd PEV’s Tournament Series. The Rockin’ Cocks fielded O-face, Spoon and Frieda in the Novice division with sideline support from Wimpy and Carly. The RC Revolution fielded D-Kay, Cap’n, and it’s newest edition Brandon (cheesy nickname in the works) in the Rookie division. Slippy and Snax made an appearance to support their teams along with friends Will and Rusty who supported and played some rec ball with some pumps and bandannas.

The Rockin’ Cocks started strong with O-face pulling out a 1 v 2 for a win. The Cocks won the next game too, but even with some other great moments no more wins came down the pike. Nevertheless participants and onlookers demonstrated their appreciation and respect for the Rockin’ Cock pump game.

The RC Revolution came out blazing with a string of great wins. All players played tight and Cap’n earned his namesake with his commanding demands of ‘Get that guy out’. The Revolution deservedly made the finals but, because of the flukiness of paintball, finished 4th place. That ain’t bad at all.

After both teams finished their part in the tournament, they merged into the RC Army and headed to the rec fields. The following hour of paintball may very well be the most amusing hour I’ve ever witnessed. As a vacation from the competitive tournament paintball personality, the RC Army decided to work on their Swat tactical paintball techniques. Shouts of: ‘Attack formation delta!’, ‘Cover me while I clear the next target’, ‘REEEELOAAADIIIING!’, and the frequent ‘MOVE MOVE MOVE!’ could be heard across the field. Other than the ridiculous faux tactical jargon my personal favorite 3 moments from least to greatest:

3) O-face, Freida, Spoon and Carly pulling the synchronized barrel role from behind a log at the beginning of the game.
2) Slippy taking the field with a Squad buster grenade and 5 paintballs in his hand and immediately tying up the center 50 for about 5 minutes.
1) Frieda’s unforgettable commando crawl to the right 50 despite the grueling 10 minute effort… not to mention the fact that there was no possible enemy contact for the first 8 minutes. Thanks for that buddy.

As per usual, the Army joined for a meal before everyones respective journeys home. Great day of play all around.

Rockin' Cocks Take 3rd at Liberty

A 3-man faction of the Rockin' Cocks (and our beloved cameraman) showed up to to represent at Liberty's Tournament on Saturday, March 21st. Thanks to some local ballers, we arrived without getting lost. The majority of the venue was under construction, but that made it all the more fun. Rockin' Cocks fielded Spoon, Amish and U.A. Carl. It was a fairly small gig, only six "3-man" teams, and three "5-man." The day started off a bit later than expected. But when the Liberty folks started, they didn't stop. The schedule was organized so that each team played every other team twice; then finials would be announced.

The Rockin' Cocks started off well. Losing only one body in the first game, and maxing the next two. They kept up that same momentum throughout the day with a loss here and there. Amish and Carl locked down the D-side of the field while Spoon did damage from the snake. There were lots of hushed wispers after a few of the wins, but nobody was sure if it was because of the paint that was slung or Amish's dirty mouth throught the game.

The Rockin' Cocks took second in points and after a crushing loss in the finials ended up taking 3rd. Congrats to KlockWork who took first (and some sweet trophies) and NSG who took second. The Liberty staff was top notch, and ran the entire tournament extremely well. All of the players and spectators were friendly as could be. There was even warm delicous food for sale during the break. With some fantastic views, and wonderful people, the RC Army is sure to return to Liberty in the near future.

Another Hot CCM Product

In case you don't know, CCM makes some of the hottest pump guns on the planet.  The SS-25, S5 and S6 are in the hands of a lot of pump players and the upcoming J2L and Prototype are soon to follow.  Even those that don't have a full CCM marker know a little bit of CCM goodness goes a long way.  Their pump kits and frames are top notch.

Not only does CCM make a great product but they've also got some of the best customer service.  They've helped me bring the Creamsicle Magic back into prime shape after picking it up on Ebay.  At the forefront of the service and tech support is Mel aka CCM Chick.  Well Mel has been working on a project of her own, a sick nasty Hello Kitty S6.  Enough jabber from me...check out the pics.

Jerseys for the Revolution: Part II

Wimpy and I did a little more sweatshopping this evening.  Managed to do some more damage on the Rev jerseys and even crank out a couple of test HF shirts.  With all of the paint and spray adhesive in the closed spaces we tend to take a little liberty with the names.  Click on the images below for larger pics.

Here are the test HF shirts...yeah, that's pink!
